Dental work in Ahmedabad for NRI Gujaratis in Australia, Canada and the USA
A real 2026 guide for NRI Gujaratis flying home for dental work. Honest implant costs vs AU, CA, and US rates. Travel timing. Warranty. Why Nikol fits the trip.
About a third of the people I see at Shreeji Dental are NRIs. Mostly Gujaratis who left Ahmedabad in the 90s and early 2000s. They settled in Melbourne, Toronto, Edison, or London. And now, every eighteen to twenty four months, they fly home to see their parents.
Somewhere between landing at SVP airport and the second cup of chai at their mum's house, a conversation always starts. It goes something like this. Beta, let's just get your teeth checked while you are here.
This guide is for those families. It is for the son in Sydney whose dentist quoted him 6,500 Australian dollars for a single implant. It is for the aunty in Brampton staring at 22,000 Canadian dollars for a full mouth rehabilitation. It is for the family in Edison, New Jersey who got a 4,200 US dollar estimate for a root canal, post, and crown on one molar. You are not being scammed back home. Those are real prices in real Western private practice. But you are also not crazy for asking the obvious question. Can I do this sensibly in Ahmedabad.
The real price gap in 2026
Here are actual numbers. Not marketing numbers. These are what a patient at a good private clinic in Nikol will pay, side by side with what the same patient would pay at a mid tier private clinic in the three biggest Gujarati diaspora markets. Prices include the abutment and crown where they should, because partial quotes are where most comparisons get dishonest.
- Single implant with abutment and zirconia crown. Shreeji Dental Nikol: 35,000 to 55,000 rupees. Australia: AUD 5,500 to 7,500. Canada: CAD 4,500 to 6,500. USA: USD 3,500 to 5,500.
- Root canal, fibre post, and ceramic crown on a molar. Nikol: 9,000 to 15,000 rupees. Australia: AUD 2,800 to 4,200. Canada: CAD 2,200 to 3,500. USA: USD 2,500 to 4,000.
- Full mouth rehabilitation, upper and lower, mix of implants and crowns. Nikol: 3 to 6 lakh rupees. Australia: AUD 35,000 to 60,000. Canada: CAD 28,000 to 55,000. USA: USD 25,000 to 50,000.
- Scaling, polishing, and a basic check up. Nikol: 800 to 1,500 rupees. Australia: AUD 200 to 350. Canada: CAD 180 to 300. USA: USD 150 to 300.
How long do you actually need in India
This is the question every NRI family asks wrong. They ring me up in December and say, I have three weeks in Ahmedabad in January, can we finish everything. The honest answer depends on what everything is. Because with implants, biology sets the timeline. Not your flight dates.
What finishes in one two-week trip
- Scaling, polishing, whitening, and cosmetic bonding.
- Fillings, root canals (even on back molars), post and crown.
- Wisdom tooth extractions with the healing review before you fly.
- Veneers and smile makeovers on six to ten front teeth.
- Complete upper or lower dentures.
What needs two trips or one long stay
- Dental implants in healthy bone. Four to six months between the surgery and the final crown.
- Implants with bone grafting or a sinus lift. Six to nine months.
- Full mouth rehabilitation with implants. One surgical trip of two to three weeks, then a prosthetic trip of two weeks, four to six months later.
- All on 4 or All on 6 cases. These can be done in ten to fourteen days with immediate loading, but only if the case selects for it. We check the CBCT before we promise anything.
We coordinate directly with your regular dentist back home. Stitches-out instructions, post-op X-rays, prosthetic specs, all written in English so whoever does your follow up in Melbourne or Toronto is not starting from zero.
Why Nikol matters, specifically
Most NRI families coming home stay with parents in Nikol, Naroda, Vastral, Bapunagar, Odhav, or Kathwada. Driving to SG Highway or South Bopal for dental appointments adds ninety minutes each way in Ahmedabad traffic. That turns a simple 4 PM follow up into a full afternoon logistics exercise for your seventy year old father who is doing the driving.
Our clinic on Haridarshan Road is six minutes from Bhakti Circle. Twelve minutes from Nikol Gam. Fourteen minutes from New Naroda. Eighteen minutes from Vastral via the SP Ring Road. If your family lives anywhere in East Ahmedabad, the geography alone saves you whole days over a two week trip.
What about warranty
This is the question every NRI patient asks and they are right to ask it. A dental implant is supposed to last fifteen years or more. What happens if a crown chips eighteen months later in Sydney. What happens if the implant fails in year three. I am not going to pretend this never happens. It does. Rarely, but it does.
We run a warranty policy specifically for NRI patients at Shreeji Dental. It is in writing. In English.
- Five year warranty on crown level issues. Cementation failure, ceramic chipping, occlusal wear.
- Ten year warranty on the implant fixture itself, when a premium brand (Osstem, Straumann, Nobel Biocare) is used.
- Qualifying repairs during your next visit home are covered at no chair or lab cost.
- For urgent issues while you are abroad, we do a WhatsApp video consultation and send treatment records directly to your local dentist at no charge.
The point of warranty is not a marketing line. It is the answer to one question. Will this clinic still be here in ten years. Twelve years on Haridarshan Road is how we answer that.
Dr. Zalak Jansari, BDS
Things I will not lie to you about
I would be dishonest if I only told you the savings story. Here are the things NRI patients sometimes get wrong.
- Flight timing matters. Do not schedule dental surgery in the seventy two hours before a long haul flight. Cabin pressure changes can cause discomfort around a fresh extraction site. We plan surgery for the start of your trip, not the end.
- Summer in Ahmedabad is brutal. If you have the choice, come between October and March. Healing is more comfortable and you will not be lying on a chair at 44 degrees.
- Bring your full medical history in writing. Eliquis, Xarelto, and warfarin change the surgery plan. So does diabetes control. We need to know before we numb you, not after.
- Do not try to do everything in one trip. If your Ahmedabad dentist says let us split this across two visits, that is a careful treatment plan. Not an upsell.
The part nobody writes about
For a lot of our NRI patients, the dental appointment is actually the easy part. The harder part is convincing their parents in Ahmedabad that they deserve modern dental care. That a properly made implant is not a luxury at sixty eight. That they do not have to live with loose dentures for the rest of their life. That a full mouth rehabilitation can change how they eat, and how confidently they smile on the video call with their grandchildren in Melbourne.
Half our NRI consultations are the children booking on behalf of their Gujarati parents. Then flying in to be there during treatment. We see it every week.
It is one of the reasons we built the clinic the way we did. Gujarati first consent forms. Family seating in the consultation room so the daughter can sit next to her mother and translate. A doctor who will take the time to explain every step in a language a sixty eight year old from Nikol Gam actually understands. If that sounds slow, it is. On purpose.
Frequently asked
- Is it safe for NRIs to get dental implants in Ahmedabad?
- Yes, as long as the clinic uses internationally recognised implant systems like Nobel Biocare, Straumann, or Osstem, follows proper sterile surgical protocol, and gives you written documentation your home dentist can actually use. Shreeji Dental Care in Nikol uses the same implant brands sold in Australia, Canada, and the US, with warranty terms written in English.
- How much does a dental implant cost in Ahmedabad in 2026?
- At a good private clinic in Nikol, one dental implant including the abutment and zirconia crown runs between 35,000 and 55,000 rupees depending on the implant brand you choose. That is roughly USD 420 to 660, AUD 640 to 1,000, or CAD 580 to 910. Bone grafting or a sinus lift adds 15,000 to 30,000 rupees on top if your case needs it.
- Can I finish a full mouth rehabilitation in one trip from Australia or Canada?
- If the case is only crowns, veneers, or conventional dentures, yes. Two to three weeks is enough. If implants are involved, you will need either one long stay of ten to fourteen days for an All on 4 immediate loading case, or two shorter trips four to six months apart. We plan the timeline around your flight dates before any surgery begins.
- Do you coordinate with my dentist back home in Melbourne, Toronto, or New Jersey?
- Yes. We send English language treatment notes, pre and post operative X-rays, and prosthetic specifications so your regular dentist can continue care without repeating your file. For urgent issues after you fly home, Dr. Zalak Jansari responds personally on WhatsApp within 24 hours.
- What if something goes wrong after I fly back?
- Every implant and crown placed at Shreeji Dental comes with a written warranty. Five years on crown level issues. Ten years on premium implant fixtures. Qualifying repairs during your next visit home are covered. For problems that cannot wait, we remote consult with your local dentist in your country and share all your records directly.
